They are definitely YA lit, but still definitely worth checking out, as they are a fast/fun read with some parts that surprisingly really get to you.

The casting is more or less the polar opposite of what I was hoping for, but I'll try to hold my judgment until we have at least a trailer or something.

I was thinking about picking this trilogy up. I've been hearing a lot about the movie/casting. It seems like everyone is displeased with the casting for the two male leads. Josh Hutcherson is a very talented actor, but I'm pretty sure he's shorter than Jennifer Lawrence? Seems a bit weird.

I have always separated film from book as to not be disappointed.

Me too, definitely. I was just stating what I've been reading. I'll probably get/read the books this summer and when the movie comes out, go into the movie theater without thinking of the books.

That's what I had to do with Cirque Du Freak. And even then, I was still hugely disappointed. I loved those books when I was younger, and that movie was horrendous even when you don't compare it to its source material.

I fucking hate YA fiction, but I loved this book. I think adaptations should be separately judged from the source material. A filmmaker should not try to be completely faithful to the book, but faithful to their individual vision of it. I don't want to see Suzanne Collin's The Hunger Games, I want to see Gary Ross' The Hunger Games.

A lot of the fans are getting mad that the casting is off based solely on looks, which I find silly. Looks are easy to modify. Casting should be based on skill, who embodies the role.

That being said, Steinfeld was born to play Katniss. I am very sad Lawrence was cast, though Lawrence is a wonderful actress and I am still very interested.
