Time Will Tell – The Coming Soon EP
Record Label: None
Release Date: May 2011
A pop punk band from New Jersey, Time Will Tell have put themselves on the map early with The Coming Soon EP. As we’ve seen with plenty of bands lately, NJ seems to be the place to be for this genre. These five songs that make up The Coming Soon EP are the first tracks Time Will Tell have ever recorded, proving just how early into the game they are. However, they clearly started in the right hands, working with Mike Kalajian (Just Surrender, Ace Enders, The Years Gone By), making their youth hardly noticeable throughout these twenty minutes.
“Cristian’s Song” is the first taste of what Time Will Tell are about – dual vocals, upbeat hooks, and simply just writing catchy pop-rock tunes. Mike Tizzano sets the tone of the track with his drumming throughout the opener as the guys demonstrate their usage of the multiple vocalists. Conversely, what follows (“Good Day”) is a soft acoustic number. Showing a completely different side of Time Will Tell, “Good Day” proves the versatile nature within such a young band, while the track channels Simple Plan vocally. Equipped with strong guitars and layered vocals, “I’ll Be Fine” is a hard-hitter, exercising the best aspects of the band. Another Simple Plan-tinged track, “Ordinary Day” is more pop than punk – an addictive guitar-driven ride. The final bonus track, “Spine” wastes no time getting to the point, ending the EP on a poppy upbeat note, proving the best was indeed saved for last on this short-lived EP.
For literally being the beginning of the band, The Coming Soon EP definitely makes listeners expect big things from Time Will Tell in the future, as they clearly have both feet headed in the right direction. Full of catchy tunes and poppy hooks, this EP is just another quick dosage of summer pop-rock music.
