Josh Ritter's Book on Sale

Posted by - 04:43 PM on 07/06/11
Josh Ritter's book Bright's Passage is on sale at Amazon for only $12.35. Has anyone checked it out yet? It looks as fantastic as Josh's music.

This dude was on NPR and I was actually impressed with what I heard. I don't know why, for some reason I just unilaterally ignored him for years but after actually giving it a listen I was pretty surprised. He's maybe a bit wordy as a lyricist (he seems much more concerned with the words than the way they'll sound actually sung...it comes off a little cumbersome at times) but in general I thought it was pretty good folky/lyric music.

Definitely not asking about his music when he said "Josh Ritter's BOOK for sale".

I've always enjoyed Josh's stuff, so I'm definitely going to pick this up.

He came to my school for our music festival and played/read from this. It sounded great and he was incredibly nice and humble. I'm definitely planning on reading it.

I read the first chapter when he released it to his mailing list. Seemed a little too mythical for my personal tastes, but it certainly didn't seem poorly written by any means.

I read it in a day. If you like Ritter's music you'll love this book. It feels like one of his songs come to life, but where ambiguity weighs down a three minute song, he has 200 pages to explore every crack, hallway and open window that the protagonist passes along the way.

Buy it.

Also, it started out as a song so if you like his storytelling in his songs...
