Knife Crazy – Delicious Delicious Science
Label: Bad Drone Media
Release Date: September 2006
Who?
A witty, complicated three-piece playing experimental math rock. Knife Crazy is almost impossible to pin down; their influences are as varied as the lengthy song titles.
How Is It?
Fans of punk, hardcore, rock, instrumentation, and ‘shrooms will have no problem finding something to love. However, calling Delicious Delicious Science disjointed seems almost wrong. And even though the lyrics are smart and humorous (aka: my white whale), mostly instrumental songs “An Homage To Ants And All The Hard Work They Do” and “Mao Tse What?” catch on the quickest. These tracks feature angular, brief riffs (a constant) and allow for more diverse structures and quirky time signatures. Sparse, playful use of gang vocals add to the appeal. Music might be art, but Knife Crazy is not lacking any chemistry.
Reader 1: Did he just use a science pun?
Reader 2: I can’t actually read, but he sure is dreamy.
