In my opinion, Shed > IWICSH, no contest.
Dont get me wrong, I've been into basement for a while back now, good band, and Songs About The Weather was rad, but for me IWICSH was the product of a group of 19/20 year olds, trying to make their jump to sounding more "mature" and "emo," a bit too early on. It sounds pushed, as if the band said "we have to make some killer emo record to show we know our stuff, to show we're not a normal pop-punk/emo band." Not a natural progression. I also thought that IWICSH sounded raw, or that it needed more subtle touches? Maybe its just me.
This is purely my opinion. In my eyes, shed is just stronger, it sounds like a natural progression/maturity from TLTYF and to be honest I can see way more older emo influence in Shed than IWICSH, and know that TF didnt go out of there way to show it. Shed has a message behind it, not that its the big winner for the LP, but the songs really do that message justice. | | |
