So I'm fully aware of the Yankees dress code policy regarding hair and facial hair. But what if a person with a beard (like Ryan Franklin from the Cards) gets traded to the Bronx, but refuses to shave off his meaty goat? Do the Yanks just have to release him and still pay him, or does that void the current contract? Does Bud Selig get to slaughter the player and eat his heart?

I'm surprised something like this has never come up..

I think he's trying to show Roy's look when he's about to get pulled. Took me a while too..

I know it's inevitable but it's still depressing to see it in print and from Prince's mouth http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...ers/index.html

I honestly believe he would stay in Milwaukee at a reasonable contract if his agent wasn't Scott Boras. oh well

Curious. What's a reasonable contract? Like Teixeira got in NY?

it's annoying as a mariners fan, but it's good to see him doing so well and on a playoff team.

Yeah, what really sucks is that Fister did REALLY well here, but had no run support. He had something like a sub 3.00 ERA, but still went something stupid like 3-13. He didn't deserve that..

Verlander for MVP. Let's make this happen. I don't care that he only plays every 5 days.

God, outside of Boston and New York fans, it's really hard not to root for Tampa. I don't care that the Rays being in the playoffs is bad for TV ratings. It's flat out good for baseball.

i'm pretty sure i've never known you can "not have control of the ball" at first. are we sure he had both feet in bounds? was ellsbury a defenseless receiever?

I love replay. I realize they didn't use that in this instance, but getting it right is paramount. Kudos to the umps in Baltimore...

here's how I would sum up the night in the form of Ron Swanson gifs:

Boston Red Sox:

Tampa Bay Rays:

New York Yankees:

Atlanta Braves:

Thank you so much. :)

Did anyone catch the last 5 seconds of the Rays/Rangers telecast? TBS missed bleeping a few a few "Fuck Yeah's"...

I keep looking for pics of the new stadium in Miami, but they're all computer images. Clearly they still have a ways to go to finish this thing up...

They'd win the WS then realize they paid too much for them and then give them away two days after the season ends.

Oh come on. They've never done that before! Ever.

Try as it may, baseball will never come close to the two superior playoff formats in sports (NFL and NCAA basketball)

The NCAABB is amazing for very obvious reason that I don't need to mention (seeding for it is another issue entirely)

And the NFL is perfect the way it is. Perfect amount of teams for a 12 team playoff, and the first round bye is brilliant too because teams now how to handle a week off. I think that baseball is such a momentum-driven sport that a first round bye can hurt teams just as much as helping them get healthy and setting pitching rotations.

Well usually the AL Wildcard is decided by like 6-7 games. And is the Red Sox or Yankees.

This.

The wild card race is boring to me. Obviously this year it was great, but frankly that's a fluke.
