Grails - Burning Off Impurities Released April 24th, 2007
Temporary Residence
Who?
Like some acid trip that takes you into an Indian desert with sporadic noises oddly familiar to a rock band boasting massive Eastern influences. Hell yeah, Grails is one fucking weird band.
How Is It?
Burning Off Impurities will be championed by neo-hippies and fans of psychedelic drugs, or both, alike. Strictly instrumental, you'll swear you haven't heard anything like this...ever. I don't even know where to begin to be honest. Improvisation flows through each song while World influences are the proverbial heart pulsing strangely hypnotizing beats and melodies to the other side of your comfort level. I've never taken LSD, but this album makes me want to.
Key Tracks: "Silk Rd.", "Outer Banks" RIYL: Jam bands, experimentation
i got into them the same way as the guy above me. really awesome album this is, but i don't like this review. the music doesn't strike me as outrageously weird just because of the middle-eastern influence.

I as well saw Grails open up for mono in NYC two weeks ago....and they were fucking phenomenal..so much so that after seeing them I actually wasn't too impressed with Mono's set.
