1. How did you get your band name?
Our band name was the result of a collaboration to find something we would never get tired of saying. Who doesn’t love a good Fourth Quarter Comeback? Ironically, every single one of us used to play varsity sports (not well), and all hate sports.
2. How did this band get started?
Andy and Ben started writing and recording songs in early 2010. They decided that two additions were necessary and turned to close high school friend Casey to play guitar. Later in that year Matt almost fell into everyone’s laps as an obvious decision. We are all best friends first, and bandmates second. That’s why we do this.
3. What bands are you influenced by?
We all bring different influences to the table to help diversify our sound. Andy loves acoustic indie rock, Ben is a sucker for a catchy pop/punk riff or breakdown, Matt can’t stop listening to screamo and hardcore, and Casey likes hip hop, indie pop, and electro pop. Our biggest influences would have to be Blink 182, The Dangerous Summer, New Found Glory, and The Starting Line.
4. If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
We would all absolutely love to tour with Blink 182 or any one of our influences.
5. Best food to eat on tour?
We’ve never been on tour! But we all seem to have an unnatural affinity for pizza.
6. Why should people listen to your band?
People should listen to us because we’re fun, catchy, happy, and upbeat! Maybe you’re in a great mood, or maybe you need some cheering up. Either way, Fourth Quarter Comeback is here!
7. If you could be any athlete, which athlete would you switch places with?
Andy – Dale Earnhardt JR.
Casey – Tiger Woods
Ben – Michael Vick
Matt – Troy Polamalu
8. If you won a Grammy, who would you thank?
We would all thank everybody who helped us to get to where we are, our fans, and Lindsey Lohan, for motivating us to be better people.
9. If you could change something about the music industry, what would it be?
Rebecca Black. That is all.
10. Memorable tour experience?
We haven’t gone on tour yet, but our favorite time at shows besides playing is always loading and unloading the van. We all end up arguing about how it should be done and it turns into a wild game of tetris with four kids yelling at each other. Once everything is loaded up successfully, we realize that we all still love each other and carry on with our day.
11. What does AP.net mean to you?
AP.net has always been a “go to” resource for quality music reviews without pulling any punches. We love the raw, unadulterated responses and opinions. If AP.net says it’s good, then it’s going to be good.
12. What is your favorite song to play?
I would say the general favorite would be “New York, New York”. It’s so much fun to play and we can’t help but all start moving to it.
13. What is your vacation spot of choice?
We would definitely all love to go to the Bahamas. None of us travel very much. Somewhere warm and sunny seems nice. Anywhere but St. Petersburg, Russia, or Hoboken New Jersey…
14. What music reminds you of your childhood?
Definitely Blink 182. It was the anthem of Andy and Ben’s high school and middle school. Matt loved Trust Company, and Casey Couldn’t get enough of Underoath.
15. If you could have any super power, what would it be? Why?
Andy – Flight
Casey – Mind Control
Ben – Flight
Matt – Flight
16. Any pre-show superstitions or rituals?
None of us really have any superstitions. But when it comes to rituals, before every show we all huddle up back stage in a group hug and hype each other up. Everything from reminding each other that we’re all practically brothers to jumping and yelling “YA HYPE YA HYPE YA HYPE?” just laughing.
17. What is something that most fans don't know about you?
Casey wishes he was a rapper and subsequently dabbles with rap beats on the side. However just the creation of them, not the actual rapping. Ben wishes he was a redneck, and loves shooting guns, camping, and exploring the wilderness. Andy is encapsulated by all things relating to the universe and space, and Matt can quote every line from the movie Zoolander.
18. What is your assessment of the current state of radio? Do you think it's a place where your band could flourish?
Radio Used to be a pile of diamonds. Lately, however, it’s been turning into more of a haystack with a few diamonds lost in the middle. The hip hop and pop stations seem to play through songs rather quickly, but all of the rock stations in our area (Northern Virginia) are still playing Nickelback and Creed. I feel that with the right placement on the right station, our songs could flourish as long as the station were to reach out to a broader audience and not to a niche audience.
19. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Casey loves to write music and make salads. Andy loves to watch house and write songs. Ben loves to play video games and matt loves to read music blogs.
20. What kind of hidden talents do you have?
Andy is an extremely talented aggressive driver. Matt’s hidden talent would have to be revising and editing literature. Ben is way too good at video games. And Casey is a great cook.
