i don't understand how getting out of the "scene" is necessarily a good thing. in general, i feel like "scene" rock is has more depth and less superficial crap going on than your typical radio rock band (think five finger death punch and puddle of mudd)
There For Tomorrow did get rid of a lot of the catchy hooks, but in my opinion that is because The Verge doesn't need them. I have already listened to this album more than all of their other music combined. I can get sick of hooks after a while.
