Sum 41 Explain It All

Posted by - 01:20 AM on 10/03/11
Sum 41 guitar tech Brian Keith Diaz explains the band's tour cancellations due to Deryck Whibley's back issues.
Quote"This decision was not made as a snap judgement call. Doctors and others have been telling him to rest and have surgery, etc. for a long time now. But, being the way this industry is, Sum 41 has to continue touring in order to promote their record and continue making money. This isn't an arbitrary "let's just cancel a bunch of shows" decision. This puts everyone's life on hold: the guys in the band, the people who work for them, everyone... Until this unfortunate setback there were no plans to stop touring regardless of how well the record was selling, or whether people think the promotion was lacking, whatever. "

I loved the record. I'm actually a little bummed that it's not catching on as much as it should. Some tracks were too identical that hurt the record as a whole, but I thought it was just as good as Chuck.

I thought Soundwave was due to food poisoning or pneumonia or something of the sort. Regardless, they played Brisbane just fine :P

So rough!! I take it he'll be having surgery then. I wish them all the best.

You can look at it this way, or you can look at it and say that they blew up on mainstream radio and TV and sold a few million records. Got the crap promoted out of them and got the opportunity thousands of bands would give anything for.

Ouch. The Chicago stop was the second one that was canceled in 2010.

I never once questioned Deryck's heath and I'm a member on that site but I'm glad Brian did clear things up to end whatever else was being made up.
