‘THE COLOR SPECTRUM – THE COMPLETE COLLECTION’
IN-PROGRESS TOUR WITH MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA
November 8, 2011 – THE DEAR HUNTER’s loyal fans have spoken. It’s because of them that the band is proud to announce today’s release of “The Complete Collection” package of their critically acclaimed nine-EP collection, THE COLOR SPECTRUM (Triple Crown Records), which is now available on CD for the first time. The three-CD box set includes a 52-page booklet of lyrics, notes from band mastermind CASEY CRESCENZO and new artwork, as well as a 90-minute DVD consisting of live and never-before-seen footage of the making of the epic compilation.
Immediately following the initial June 14 release, THE COLOR SPECTRUM debuted in two separate spots on Billboard’s “Heatseekers” chart: first at an impressive #9 for the entire digital version, and at #32 for the 11-song CD version (featuring select music from each EP).
THE COLOR SPECTRUM --originally only available digitally and as a limited edition vinyl package (sold in a wooden box) that quickly sold out--consists of songs inspired by the colors of the spectrum, specifically RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, INDIGO and VIOLET, with WHITE and BLACK being included as bookends. It was written and recorded as CASEY traveled across the U.S., documenting every step of the process as he worked with several producers and musicians including Manchester Orchestra, Brendan Brown from The Receiving End of Sirens, Mike Watts (who has worked with As Tall As Lions and he mixed the band’s ACT III: LIFE AND DEATH), and Steve Haigler (Brand New, As Tall As Lions, Quicksand).
"This project has gone farther than I could have hoped for,” exclaims CASEY. “I’m proud to be releasing ‘The Complete Collection’ on CD, along with a DVD detailing my trip across the country, and 'making of' footage for a number of the EPs. We wanted to make sure the CD box set could live up to scope of the vinyl box, and with a new large accompanying booklet, as well as all new art design by Cameron Thorne, I feel this has been given more care and love than a standard rerelease."
THE COLOR SPECTRUM has been racking up rave reviews since its release. To wit:
“…a sprawling, heady mix, merging some of the challenging piano work of latter day Ben Folds Five with a bit of Muse-y, glam rock melodrama.” -- SPIN
“..the disc’s biggest threat is how effortlessly Crescenzo & Co. are able to pull off each style. ‘Filth And Squalor’ and ‘Deny It All’ (from BLACK and RED, respectively) are stomping, bombastic rock songs with dark tinges that fall neatly in the band’s wheelhouse. The breezy ‘She’s Always Singing’ and folksy ‘Things That Hide Away’ and ‘The Canopy,’ meanwhile, are free from the normal mountain of production that typically characterizes The Dear Hunter, and really highlight Crescenzo’s sharp songwriting.” -- Alternative Press
Meanwhile, THE DEAR HUNTER recently stopped by the studios of Daytrotter.com for an exclusive acoustic performance of three songs from THE COLOR SPECTRUM, as well as their classic, “Red Hands,” from 2007’s ACT II: THE MEANING OF, & ALL THINGS REGARDING MS. LEADING album. The session can be heard here: http://bit.ly/rQxvQh .

27-28 pounds, hmm. Kinda wish I hadn't bought the 10 songs I did.
I might get it eventually, if it's still around.
I really think the 3 CD idea works great, especially since the colors I don't care for are on a separate one.

Have. Pre-ordered the custom made box, with litho print. It's awesome looking. the package is dope, and the booklet is a nice touch. I'm bummed I won't be able to see them in two weeks, but school comes first.
Overall, awesome purchase, and I'm glad I made the decision to fork over the dough.

Really wish I hadn't bought the fucking vinyl. This seems so much cooler. If anyone who bought this wants to upload that DVD I'd be pretty happy about that.
