New Jersey
Starland Ballroom, Sayreville, NJ -
http://starlandballroom.com/ (solid venue for any generic, non-arena, artist. From Hanson, to Reel Big Fish, to Slayer, to All time low)
Wellmont Theater, Montclair, NJ -
http://www.wellmonttheatre.com/ (typically a venue for popular comedians and older acts, like Jim Gaffigan, Pat Benetar and Chicago, but they can take the seats out and host shows like Dropkick Murphys, Paramore, and Janes Addication as well)
Maxwells, Hoboken, NJ -
http://maxwellsnj.com/ (small venue in the back of a bar/restaurant, but this venue is great for intimate shows, with some rather popular indie, country, rock, pop, and acoustic acts. Acts like Senses Fail, Tossers, Straylight Run, Cults, Where is the band tour, etc)
The Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ -
http://thestonepony.com/ (legendary South Jersey venue, generally known for their punk rock shows, but they're open to array of arists as well. Bouncing Souls, Less Than Jake, Lights, Blue October, Stone Temple Pilots, Gym Class Heroes have all played here)
Mexicali Live, Teaneck, NJ -
http://mexicalilive.com/ (fairly newer venue to NJ, mostly makes up for the loss of other small venues in Northern NJ, but mexicali live is where you'll find smaller acts, up and coming "emo" acts, country acts, adult contemporary, and smaller rock acts. Artists include August burns red, socratic, Patent Pending, Birthday Massacre, and a large amount of cover bands)
Susquehanna Bank Center, Camden, NJ -
http://www.livenation.com/Susquehann...en/venue/16465 (arena type venue in Camden, NJ. Warped tour is here sometimes. Acts like Tool, Rise Against, Blink 182, Weezer, Guns N Roses, Bruno Mars, T Pain etc)
House of Blues, Atlantic City, NJ -
http://www.houseofblues.com/venues/c.../atlanticcity/ (doesn't host THAT many shows during a year, but they'll have any relatively large (non-arena) act perform here once in a while. Acts like Weezer, Dropkick Murphys, Blue October, and older acts as well)
PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ -
http://www.livenation.com/PNC-Bank-A...el/venue/16839 (this is THE New Jersey summer venue. Any large, multi-band tour, will most likely play at the PNC bank arts center. OAR, Guster, Jay-Z, Kanye, Blink, Fall out boy, slayer, megadeath. Not a good place for "general admission", but they have relatively cheap lawn seats in the back if you want GA)
of course Atlantic City casinos will get a large pop act one in a while...same with Giants Stadium (only like U2 or Bruce)...and I dont think i've seen many shows at the Prudential Center (devils/nets stadium)
