The Maccabees' new album Given To The Wild is set to be their first ever Number 1 in the official UK chart next week. The album is currently outselling Adele's 21 in the midweek charts, so if you are in the UK and still haven't purchased the record, make sure you do so and help the band out.
Coming from someone who wasn't really a fan of their old stuff, I took a punt on this album after listening to a couple of songs...and it really is amazing. They've really raised the bar for themselves on this one.

It's not outselling her overall sales obviously, just this week's for the album spot. Not to play it down though, still a great thing for them to achieve and be able to say.

It actually blows my mind that after all this time bands are still battling with Adele for number one. How many people who want it don't own it by now? Crazy. Good stuff to see a relatively new band grabbing the top spot. Maybe people can stop going on about guitar music being 'dead' all the time.

Same. I checked out one of their singles back in the Colour It In days but didn't like it. Wall of Arms was a bit better, but I was impressed with this album.
