There has been 200,422 games played in MLB history. Multiply that by 2, since there are two teams in each game, and you get 400,844. So 400,844 pitchers have started a game with a chance to pitch a no-hitter. 274 of them have. 274 divided by 400,844 comes out to 0.068%. So there should be, on average, a no-hitter every 731 games. Still a very rare occurrence in my book.

i'm not trying to be a party pooper but we are averaging almost 1.5 no-hitters a year. It's still great for the individual to be that 1-pitcher per year...but it happens every year. It's not as meaningless as a cycle, but it's not as amazing as..4 hr day, perfect game, 20k's, etc.

at least weaver's was only one walk.
