The distinction between AS and T59S comes for me in the car. American Slang kills on the midday summer cruise, and there's nothing better than taking a night drive and drifting into the sweet, dreamy nostalgia of the '59 Sound. Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm not saying that this is a mark against it, but 59 Sound is definitely their most polished album so far.

It seems as though Handwritten might overtake it, but again that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Brendan O'Brien has a track record for making rock bands sound good.

Except for Incubus. Those albums sounded terrible. Didn't help that they were the band's worst material. I think he'll do fine with Gaslight though. Seems like it will be a good fit.

Classy. It reminds me of old Blue Note records, at least back when people like Reid Miles did the artwork. Elsie does the same for me to a lesser degree.
