Sounds about right. I agree with almost everything said, but I don't think it was quite deserving of "Their best album in eight years." It doesn't really have too many strong points and the flow is definitely broken up. Lies for the Liars was much better.

Definately their best album since in love and death, but i just want them to get back to self titled sound. But compared to artwork this is gold. Good review.

Sadly, I agree. Only song I can stand is Put Me Out.

I don't know about the Artwork hate I personaly love that album, the verdict is still out on wheather I like this album, from the first 2 listens I'm sure I'll get into it.

I'm surprisingly into this album. I haven't really gotten into anything by these guys since the self-titled- I was pretty lukewarm on In Love and Death, even- but there are a ton of super catchy songs on this. "Shine" and "Moving On" have been stuck in my head all week.

I was once in an in-flight magazine
It's a decent album. Nice review though.

I was curious to see what Artwork was rated on this website, so I searched it in the archives, and I see it was given 80% by the author... which is 10% higher than Vulnerable, yet this review says Vulnerable is better?!?!
Anyway, I agree with the first replier (axel182), Vulnerable is their worst album. I liked Artwork a lot more. Sure, it was darker and a bit more depressing, but it had a lot of solid and more memorable songs: "Empty With You", "Sold My Soul", "On The Cross", "The Best Of Me", Watered Down", etc.
Like many fans, Self Title and In Love & Death still remain my faves, but Vulnerable does prove they're capable of that raw, catchy sound. It just wasn't executed this time around.
I still support this band, and they remain one of my favorites.

Interesting album. I have no problem with them becoming "too reliant on the pop side of things" because I think they pull it off really well. Nice review though.

I agree that this is the best CD The Used has released since in love and death. Nothing....NOTHING....will top their self-titled though

Feenay! Fee hee hee hee heenay!
I don't think this album is bad at all. The lyrics kinda suck, and I wish you reflected that more in the score, but overall it's pretty damn catchy. Definitely a winner for their fans.

For me, this album blows the disaster that is Artwork out of the water. Numerous songs harken back to Lies for the Liars (I Come Alive and Put Me Out) which makes me smile. I get to hear some of the old Used sound. However, only half the album is good. Hands and Faces makes me cringe every time I hear the verses. Then, there is the last half of the album. All the catchy hooks go away and what is left is flat tracks and terrible ballads. I just wish the entire album patched a punch, but considering how bad Artwork was, I'll take what Vulnerable has to offer.

Haven't dug the songs I've heard so far, but I guess I'll give the album a chance. I'm not one to give up on a band that's made at least one great album.

I say The Used is like a BFF you had when you were younger that you grew apart from. You still love them for everything they've given you and all the time you've shared, but you just aren't in the same state of mind anymore. I hope one day we can be on the same page again though, because I miss the good ol' days.

I think it's really interesting that Hands and Faces is either a favorite track or a least favorite track and not really anywhere inbetween in the comments so far. Personally, I love the song and think its a perfect balance of still clearly being a Used song while also being a game changer for them.
