they will probably make exactly the kinda music the filmmakers are hoping for.......

i hate that i'm kinda puritanical when it comes to film scores, but i love the medium too much. Not that there is a specific sound that defines a score, there are no rules there, but i hate that so many filmmakers are hiring ppl or bands to just come up with ambient sounds that loosely fit the tone of whats on screen, without any REAL synchronizing in mind, I've been disappointed with reznor's venture into the medium, I hope this is not the case with Mogwai, but it probably is...

Mike Patton gets it tho, probably the first rock guy since Elfman to have a deep understanding of film scoring

Mogwai have made music used in movies before, even if they don't count as traditional scores, but they definitely sound more like Mogwai than "the kinda music the filmmakers are hoping for". The stuff in the trailer right there sounds more like Mogwai than some generic movie crap, honestly.
