Ok, you know what? I'm just gonna say it here, I am not a fan of R U Mine? or this song. I've always felt The b-sides/new in-between album songs that they always release with the singles have always kind of indicated what the song of the next album would be, and I am not liking where it's going. I love everything Arctic Monkeys has done, and these songs are ok I guess, but I just don't care for them.
Well you can't expect a band to stay the same all throughout their career if you do then you are wrong. This new direction you speak of you may grow to like if you don't judge too harshly on just one song. Keep an open mind.
I' not expecting them to stay the same. I've enjoyed each and every change in sound they've gone through (from Whatever People Say... all the way to Suck It And See). I think all 4 of their albums are phenomenal BECAUSE they all sound different and the music it's put together well each time. I'm just saying I don't like THIS particular direction. But you're right, I shouldn't be worried. I'm sure I'll love the 5th album too.
Hmm, I'm on the fence as well. This is still better than the majority of 'rock' music out there by a long shot, but this is the band that made Cornerstone, 505, Suck It and See... I'd love for them to continue mixing their rock with depth and quality song writing.
That being said, I've played the shit out of R U Mine? so I'll adapt and play the fuck out of whatever they produce.
