From reading the article, I would guess it was not-guilty because it was for an attempted murder charge. Probably would have gotten guilty for assault or something like that. Still sucks though. Domestic disputes are the worst call you can get, because both parties generally aren't thinking clearly and is when someone who normally wouldn't really attack someone, wouldn't think twice about attacking a police officer or someone trying to help like Leone in this case.

This sucks but it's not all that surprising seeing that it was an attempted murder charge and not a battery or aggravated assault charge.

That sucks. Prosecutor probably a bit too aggressive with the attempted murder charge, thats why he got off.

So has he gotten away with nothing then, surely he should have been held accountable to the "aggravated battery causing great bodily harm" charge?

I'd have to imagine this guy is going to have to pay some serious coin in a civil suit if they choose to go that route.

i expect an appeal. im sure the prosecuter will claim that the judge failed to instruct the jury of a (aggravated) battery or (aggravated) assault (idk the full story so idk if its aggravated or not, all i know about this is coming from comments/the post.) if not, then they got a shitty lawyer.

It was a bench trial, there wasn't a jury.
