I think this song was a step in the right direction for them, not groundbreaking by any means, but it's pretty as far as the genre goes. The chorus is catchy and the end breakdown is heavy as all hell. I hope they didn't have member changes again, that'd be really unfortunate.
Despite being so common these days in this genre, that vocal clipping at the end breakdown part sounds awesome.
Common Crooks was 1000 times better as "In Oceans" IMO. Theyre much more radio friendly now and have largely ditched the more experimental song structures.
I agree, In Oceans was better...there new stuff is still pretty solid though.
That's Outrageous! is good for the genre, and if you don't like the genre then you won't like That's Outrageous! There's like a special niche of post hardcore/metalcore now with bands like Abandon All Ships, Woe Is Me, That's Outrageous, I See Stars. If you don't like this style you won't really like any of those bands, but people do clearly. I for one enjoy all these bands, they're a lot of fun to blast at the gym or in your car, and mosh to live. They're just fun bands who work on catchy chorus's and breakdowns, they're not trying to write an album like Balance and Composure's Separation. Which is a phenomenal album, but for different reasons. It really frustrates me when people come on to a bands page and just start hating on them, its fucking hard to make it out there as a band do you really have nothing better than to ruin someone else's dreams? Put the energy into commenting how much you like another band, don't waste it getting kicks trashing other bands. There's lots of bands out there that I don't like and don't understand why people like them, but I don't jump to post hate comments when there's news about them, I just ignore it, and go to band pages I like.
There are definitely right ways and wrong ways to pull of that style, though. In my opinion Woe Is Me does it pretty well, and I See Stars managed to get not-awful on the latest record, but Abandon All Ships and That's Outrageous are pretty awful. There are plenty of halfway decent bands within that scene though: We Came As Romans, The Devil Wears Prada (to an extent), Confide, Sky Eats Airplane... Depends on what you want to include.

Good for Nick b/c this is a smart signing for Invogue......assuming they can actually stay together to put some work in........ as of right now this band doesn't garner any respect from me...... from an outsider's perspective, they've pretty much been handed everything and with this signing it seems like that is still the case.........I might be way off base since I only have a very limited perspective of the workings of this band...... but seeing at what they've "achieved" so far and how little apparent work they've done to "achieve" it.... it's going to take much more for them to impress me.
Keeping it with Tom - might have some mix/master help - we'll figure that out next month.... I was REALLY stoked on how the single turned out. I love the feel of it
You should start letting Tom produce your bands now, instead of Landon. I know Landon is your boy and all but his recordings are so loose butthole.
Also keep an eye out on this band:

Abandon All Ship is by no means talented, I'd be a fool to say so. But in the right mindset I can definitely dig Infamous or Geeving for a fun listen. This is coming from someone whose favorite artists are Balance and Composure, Fireworks, Circa Survive, Brand New, As Cities Burn, Underoath, P.O.S. and Thursday. I understand the frustration people get when a band like this gets signed over X super talented indie band I really do. I'm constantly trying to get people to listen to Balance and Composure's Separation to no avail, and its frustrating.
That's Outrageous is a smart move because they already have a sound and a fan base. So its understandable why InVogue would sign over other artists. #Winning is ridiculously catchy and I love the intro to So I'm Thinking of Starting My Own Clothing Line. They are just fun songs. I don't get why the hate, they're not trying to convince you they're something else.

Exactly. People don't understand bands in this genre are for the most part just trying to write catchy music.
