I was at the SF show last week, and it was one of the most moving shows I've ever been to. Being in the room when the "thank you Thrice" chant started and experiencing that amount of love firsthand was incredible. I've never seen anything like it for any other band.
last night was special. i thought the band played way amazing and seemed super stoked and was flat out going for it. and jesus christ: that setlist was the best. that said, the crowd didn't quite live up to what the band was giving out and it was kind of a bummer. based on the HOB show in san diego on the first day of this tour i was expecting wall-to-wall insanity and was frankly underwhelmed, to say the least, and i imagine the venue is mostly to blame what with the different levels (that are all 'on the ground') preventing people from losing their shit. it wasn't really until 'firebreather' that people started getting full on rowdy, from what i experienced.
i have always been a huge fan of thrice but last night pushed them into rare territory with elite company, and i'm not sure who else belongs in that category with them. i can't watch those videos yet, i'm still kinda processing what a beautiful night that was.
did anyone stick around after the show? i wanted to hang and see if the band would mingle but i was by myself and facing a decent drive home so after like 10 minutes i decided to beat the traffic.
