http://mattchylak.bandcamp.com/ They seem to have an alt rock edge to a lot of their choices.
Japandroids' Celebration Rock would be a great choice. Probably my top rec of the year, given their past releases and the potential availability of the record.
Mewithoutyou's Ten Stories and John K. Samson's Provincial are great (relatively recent) records as well...I can see their creators being willing to offer them at a reduced price to get more listeners. Oh, and The Cloud Nothings have pretty much dominated my 2012. Anybody who loves Jawbreaker, Sunny Day Real Estate, etc (which these guys seem to) would be a fool to not spin their new record.
If you're going after older albums (I saw 2010 RAGC release The Eventually Home on there), maybe The Rapture's In The Grace of Your Love or Heavy Times' Jacker (both from 2011) would work.
They could go with some folk music that has an edge to it. I've liked Swear & Shake's Maple Ridge and (definitely) The Lumineers' self-titled album. | | |
