Should be getting the HTC One X sometime in the next month. The Nexus Q looks so interesting.

About to swap my iPhone 4S for a Galaxy 3 after playing with my friend's and being amazed by it. Android is a bit tricky to get used to at first after the simplicity of iOS but the options and features of the Galaxy 3 are far superior to the current iPhone IMO. Also, I love the bigger display which actually makes messages/maps/websites/ebooks readable for me.

This is a pretty big switch for me since I've had an iPhone since the first generation and I'm totally wedded to iTunes and iCloud, but Apple is starting to lag behind on their phone tech to an unacceptable degree. I'm not holding out a great deal of hope that the iPhone 5 will offer a significant improvement on the 4S - I doubt they'll make any drastic changes to the operating system or even to the design of the phone. A bigger screen at least would be a good start on getting some ground back on the Galaxy 3 and might tempt me back to Apple, but I think they'll still fall short of what Samsung is offering.

The smartest thing Samsung did was get the jump on the iPhone 5. I know so many people who've had to replace their iPhone 4 and have jumped straight to the Galaxy 3 because the 4S is just not up to its standard.
If I'm not mistaken, I read somewhere recently that Samsung phones can now sync with iTunes?

just moved from Iphone 4s to HTC One X and I must say, ICS is not very user-friendly. It has flash,so that's great. But the amount of apps that wouldn't get apples seal of approval is saddening. I downloaded the firefox browser and it didn't have copy/paste. the stock browser was lacking usability with the tab situation, and so now i'm onto a third which isn't the prettiest but it gets the job done. ICS/HTC Doesn't really "push" emails, just checks it often. Battery on the HTC is Horrible, but that isn't androids fault i guess. Even with minimal apps, it always seems cluttered. I don't really know what to think right now. The pros- Super fast phone, 4g speeds, and flash outweighs the Iphone. But if the next iphone gets flash then i'm going back for sure. Back to better battery, push, and i'll give the iphone the benefit of the doubt that it'll make a stellar looking phone.

also, GPS is horrible on the HTC. Apple finds me in seconds. HTC needs to reboot sometimes. I can't blame the phone, it has to be the OS.

GPS is a hardware fault and most of the stuff "wrong" is also HTC's fault. the stock launcher "Sense 4.0" is pretty awful. Get Chrome btw.

There should be an app-based solution for most of the issues you're reporting - i.e. for a web browser, I suggest Dolphin HD or Chrome (both have tabs); you might want to download a battery monitor and an 'app killer' (Android keeps apps running in the background, often without your knowledge, and an app killer will help you monitor that and kill apps you don't need running); and I'm pretty sure you can get better email clients that will more effectively support Push. Also, if you don't like your 'launcher' on the HTC you can get one that's more to your tastes.

Basically, the main difference I've found between iOS and Android is that everything sits on the surface with iOS, with Android there are layers upon layers and if you're coming from iOS and not accustomed to that, you kind of forget or overlook the fact that you really can dig deep into the phone and pretty much access or mod everything that's going on in there.
Yeah the great thing I find about Android is if you don't like the phone you can spend about an hour and basically have what looks and feels like a new phone.

Anyone have launcher recommendations? Not even sure which one I'm running now but just looking for something that can conserve more battery (if change of launcher would even make a difference).

apex launcher would be one of the best especially over sense if ^ is right. but rooting your phone would probably have a better impact on battery life

if you're upset about lack of SD card you should have researched more but your internet speed there means that cloud storage would be perfect for you.

I researched the phone fully . It's just that coming from a 16 gigabyte iPhone, it seemed like more than enough. but now you have a completely different phone that's capable of more things, thus you need more space and that I did not take into account and I don't think many people coming from an iphone would.

ah right then my bad. as I said try out cloud stuff. if I'm right you got 25gb space from dropbox which can be I used for pictures, music and video.

I should be getting a one x over the weekend but I don't want to root it because I don't want to void my warranty. was thinking about getting the nexus 7 to play with roots and using the for developing on through the last two years of my degree, mostly I want it because its the perfect size for me. I find ipads too big but getting a 7 inch tablet in addition 4.7 inch phone seems redundant.

I just switched the HTC One x to Galaxy 3 and Wow, thank you. Galaxy is way more user friendly, better speakers (f u beatsaudio), way better battery, it lasts longer and charges faster. And the music player is kinder. Die HTC, i feel that they should go the way of RIM.
I almost filled my 11gbs up but thanks to an SD slot i'll be good once I order one.
Surprisingly, and I just got my One X yesterday after using an S3 for a while and I much prefer the HTC. It just feels like the more premium phone and after messing around with it, removing sense, it's pretty much the same I think. Music player wise, no stock music player is ever good I find. I got to get one off the store. I make sure you pick up the VLC beta off the store

I think both phones need to catchup to iPhone's music player. Iv heard great things about vlc. Heard it streams from computer without being on the same network.
Neither phone designs truly shine to me, I think Sony is making way better looking xperia phones other than the ion. They both have a different feel, HTC feeling better but smudges and protruding camera doesn't help. Ultimately the battery is far improved on the galaxy. Lasts longer and charges faster. I need that.
But I'll throw on vlc, that's my player of choice on desktop anyway

Ps. I Dont care what benchmarks say but I felt as if the HTC was faster and more responsive. When I press the home button on the galaxy there's always a little lag. When I tap to scroll to the top there's a lag. That sucks. But it truly keeps programs open when multitasking which I like. Instead the HTC always refreshes when you return and thus it will log you out if you're logged in . or if youre typing something and come back to it you essentially have to start again

You see our basic needs differ, I will never use my phone as a music player, therefore the lack of aa decent player isn't a deal breaker. My battery hasn't been fantastic so far, but what I read is it gets better over time multitasking is nerfed completely but there are mods for that, best thing about Android is you're never stuck with what you buy

It has always been a problem but it's really annoying me now.

Whenever I need to type something the keyboard pops up but when I first start typing it stutters for a bit. Either nothing types or some letters don't type. It only lasts for the first few seconds and then it works but it's lame. Is this because of the shit processor? To me this phone was never really fast but I was wondering if this only happens for me.
What phone is it? You could try downloading a new keyboard app, like Swiftkey. I really recommend it. See if that solves the problem.

Just the stock one with dashclock.
ah I haven't seen the s4's stock lockscreen. I love your main screen too, like the positioning of the app drawer button, was always tempted to move mine up there but decided against it

this was mine but I'm bored of it and currently trying to come up with a new theme, may have to take some inspiration from yours.
