Sadly, I somewhat agree. Good album, but not great.

ouch this thing is getting canned. I'd say this is my least favorite Gaslight Record. I understand Brian wanting to make his lyrics more accessible, but it tarnished the thoughtful intellect he projected in most of his earlier work. When you listen to Elsie, then Handwritten, its almost as if two different people wrote the songs. The depth and storytelling takes a huge drop off. Again, I understand the point, but it makes for a less memorable album.
