Synopsis

Revolution takes place in a post-apocalyptic future. Fifteen years earlier, an unknown phenomenon permanently disabled all advanced technology on the planet, ranging from computers and electronics to car engines & jet turbines and batteries. People were forced to adapt to a world without technology, and due to the collapse of public order, many areas are ruled by warlords and militias. The series focuses on the Matheson family, who possess an item that is the key to not only finding out what happened fifteen years ago, but also a possible way to reverse its effects. However, they must elude various enemy groups who want to possess that power for themselves.

One of my most anticipated new shows come this fall. Created by Eric Kripke (Supernatural), produced by JJ Abrams, the pilot was even directed by Jon Favreau. I just hope that they find a way to take what could easily be a very mystifying concept and give it some longevity. God knows that's one of the biggest problems with shows like The Event. Cool premises that are just shit out after episode 5. I guess we'll have to see.

Of all the new NBC shows this one looks the best to me

Like that it has Giancarlo Esposito in it.

I really want this to be good, but I'm not getting my hopes up. It looks like they're going to take the premise way to seriously, like Terra Nova. That show could have been awesome, but the writing and acting were awful. I think if anyone is going to successfully pull off a premise like this, it should be slightly more light-hearted and tongue in cheek, like Firefly. Also, if it has been 15 years since the computer apocalypse, why do all the actors look like they bought their clothes at J. Crew?

Depending on how involved Kripke stays in the show, I have little doubt that, tonally, it will play out well. His other well-known work is Supernatural, which has always done a fantastic job of not taking itself too seriously.

That said, with Abrams producing, my faith is still holding at only moderate. He just hasn't done anything yet that has really wowed me or held my attention past three seasons.

There are a few others but I will say that I am less excited about new shows as I have been in previous years. I hope I am pleasantly surprised though.

Just watched the extended preview on NBC during the Olympics. Apparently they're doing a vote to bring theater screenings to 10 cities.

Just saw an extended preview. Looks really lame :/ Then again I don't think the stations handle action driven dramas all that well. Always comes off chintzy and overdone.
