All "failed major scene bands" should sign to Fearless, Rise or Hopeless. These bands are still worth units, just not enough for majors. These labels know how to develop and monetize smaller bands. This is why you don't sign to a major right out of the gate.
Epitaph did it few years back with Weezer, Story of The Year, New Found Glory, Every Time I Die, etc. Picking up all the bands that are still worth money, but not worth huge investments.
Fearless, Hopeless and Rise seem to be doing well off of it today signing Eve 6, FTSK, Lost Prophets, Yellowcard, Silverstein, The Used, The Early November, Further Seems Forever, Hot Water Music, etc.
Even All Time Low failed on Interscope and had to go back to Hopeless. They will do well again.
Mayday Parade fucked themselves by going to Atlantic from Fearless. Fearless would do anything for them. Atlantic, not so much.
This is where FTSK should have signed in the first place. Fearless is owned by Sony, you get the distro and the attention. | | |
