I think everything from 1999 through 2004 is fantastic, and Chase This Light
certainly has its moments. The newest album is a total bore in a live environment, and it's not much better recorded, so I'm hesitant about what's next. In my opinion, JEW really excels when they're embracing fast-paced ideas (much of Bleed American
showcases this, especially the first half of the disc) or creating ridiculously lush landscapes with swooning vocals.
Somewhat off-topic, but I'm pretty sure I read/saw an interview with someone in the band who said that the band really doesn't put much effort into their lyrics anymore -- it's more about the music, with lyrics being a necessity to continue the "Jimmy Eat World" experience. Can anyone link me to that, I can't seem to Google it.
