The Ernie ball stage in Michigan didn't have any security or barricades either when we played. It depends on the venue I guess

This stage is a permanent fixture at the venue and is usually used for local bands so there's no barricade and little security.
It's an amazing feeling to be a part of that crowd... they put on an amazing set, and the crowd was fucking wild. Definitely a highlight of my warped tour experience.
