A band, like a group, is a singular unit. "The band is releasing a new album" is proper, so if you put the band's name it doesn't change - "A Great Big Pile of Leaves is releasing a new album." The only exception is sports teams, which are always plural - "The Miami Heat are good." |
Oh, I'm aware bands are singular, but it still looks weird referring to a band as an object. Bands are people, my friend! Heh, or not.
