I will defend WV by saying that everyone I've dealt with has been extremely friendly. And my relatives that live here haven't been as obnoxiously Republican as I had expected - they said they hate Obama for his views on coal, but that's literally all they've said. Somehow.

All the people who have actually come to my door were Obama supporters. No one from Romney and I live in one of the most conservative areas in the cincinnati area. Gotten 3 visits from Obama door to door people (2 internal pollsters i think and one giving out early voting info, and a few people hanging random anti-romney things on the door handle when no one was looking). There's no soliciting allowed here without a special permit, I think. A bit harder to enforce on a suburban area but it would be weird for a campaign not to get one.
