How is it?

Fresh off the success of her worldwide hit "Call Me Maybe", Carly Rae Jepsen releases her EP Curiosity. Originally planned as a full album, her record label cut it down to an EP at the last minute. After a few listens, it's quite evident why. The production on this EP isn't quite up to par with the likes of teen idols Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus. The melodies are there, but the tracks themselves feel a bit empty as Jepsen doesn't have the strongest voice to carry the songs on her own. For her next release, Kiss on September 18, she teams up with veteran producer Max Martin, who will surely bring another hit for the 26 year old Jepsen. Nevertheless, Curiosity is a decent effort in the crowded genre of bubblegum pop.
