I find it very amusing how both them and Confide are unsigned and want to record. Yet, Confide is asking for SIX times more than the amount City Lights wants.

Once you get used to having money to record, it's hard to go back to using minimum amounts of money.

Plus, different bands, different music, different people, all have different preferences on how they do things. If a band has a strong enough fan base that is willing to shell out $30k collectively for a new record, then kudos to them.

I was skeptical when I first heard about their Kickstarter, but $5,000 is pretty reasonable all things considered. Might contribute to this.

Pretty cool rewards on this one! Not a big enough fan to donate, but I bet they reach their goal with money to spare and I wish them the best.

$5,000 is not that much for an album. Recording time, mastering, cd pressing, promotion etc. etc.
