obligated to comment on this because if you were really into "beatniks," you wouldn't use that word when Kerouac loathed and caused his drinking to worsen, and Ginsbeg referred to it as, "by all accounts, a foul word." Considering the fact that it was created as a condescending insult, there is no reason to say you love the Beat movement and then use that word.

kthnx

Well I had been wondering. But I'm young and I've only just begun discovering these things and i've had no one to help me or guide me. Any help you can offer me I'm desperate to know more. Honestly please I live in bumpkinsville I am trying to find my way in the world and discover myself which sounds a bit dramatic I know but it's true. So I'd love to know what you know if you'd be willing to teach me. Also I'm the kind of person who doesn't think before speaking. It's the ugly horrible truth about myself that I love. But I am serious about if you'd be willing to teach me or help me understand Jack Keroauc a little more. It's hard to understand him because his books are always different in tone and he was always changing his mind it seems and so I could use a little assistance in understanding his work and the man himself. As for Ginsberg he's cool but I should not have said I'm reallly into the beatniks in general but specifically that I like Kerouac even though that doesn't change the fact that my use of the term hipster was wrong and offensive and a itty bit of a blunder. But alas I am a blundering kind of person because it's the only way I learn with no one to teach me otherwise :).

There's the Internet and there's so many books on the subject. Even looking into the backstory and the history of the Beat Movement is a treat in itself. You should also try looking at literary criticisms of Keroauc, because all of his novels were roman a clef, and part of his life story, which was intended to later be put together into one big book of Dulouz (sp?).

Sounds like the begining of a good book with a few changes.

Okie Hokie Thank you for the tips. I just terribly hate to make such embarrassing mistakes :). But alas such is my way. Again thanks for the links. I have to look them up when I'm at a school because where I live I have dial up and it's futile to do anything on it XP. Plus I just wanted to add being the worry wort that I am I promise I'm not stupid I am just error prone haha.
