Probably one of the first years I adore a lot of the albums nominated. alt-J are early favourites it seems.

Yay for Lianna La Havas. I love that album.

Maccabees would have to win for me. Not sure I'd go wild over any of the releases though

I've yet to listen to Ill Manors but I love The Defamation of Strickland Banks so much that I'll back Plan B.

Didn't these guys like not even nominate England Keep My Bones last year? Thought maybe it was just released too late but apparently its just the people who choose these nominations aren't to be taken seriously.

Ya, I wouldn't think much of it though. Not that I dislike everything that gets nominated, nearer the opposite actually, but most years there is a big focus on pop and popular indie with a couple of token releases from other genres. This actually seems to be one of the more interesting shortlists for a while.

This shortlist is ALWAYS bullshit, and everyone knows it. Alt+J, Ben Howard or The Maccabees should win.

I'm sure you've listened to his older material before ...Strickland Banks but from what I have heard (not all of Ill Manors) it's harking back to his older style rather than the soul influence, in case that influences you at all.

Oh yeah, I've heard a few of the songs and a bit of his older stuff. Doubt I'll like it as much TDoSB but then again, that's one of my favourite albums. Still like the stuff though.
