Villebråd - Ampersand
Record Label: Prog Sphere Records
Release Date: February, 2012
Who?

Third full length from Villebråd, a progressive rock band from Uppsala, Sweden composed of Påhl Sundström on guitars and vocals, David Hallberg on guitars, Petter Broman on bass and Erik Sundström on drums.

How is it?

Ampersand is progressive rock record first and foremost, but dabbles into the pop spectrum to create ethereal tracks that blend soft vocals with complex guitar melodies and precise drumming. The resulting effect is ten songs that together to form a beautiful album that evokes a dreamscape or heavenly mythology. "Clouded Sleeping Buildings" is a standout track, with distorted guitars and rising synths, while the latter half of the song builds slowly with various electronic elements. The title track "Ampersand" has staccato synth lead layered over string pads and an electronic beat, creating a haunting melody. Villebråd have created a solid album that is the perfect companion for a late night stroll outside on a crisp autumn day.
