I normally try to stay out of these type of things, but Rob is in my band and is my brother in all that is good and bad so i wanted to stop in for a quick word. What Kris did is as low-rent as low-rent gets and is completely unacceptable to do to anyone. Especially someone as enthusiastic and fun as Rob who Kris (owes money to) personally asked to be on all Ataris tours for the last 2 years!
Throwing a temper tantrum like a little bitch to prove a point is one thing, but throwing objects at people you care (cared) about during that temper tantrum is a completely different thing all together. It's not even like he threw a drink at him. He threw a fucking drum set! If my math is correct the combined weight of the things he threw outweigh Rob by roughly 30lbs!
As a long time Ataris devotee, I know that Kris has SERIOUS back problems that at times have kept him from touring. Should he really be hurling drum sets at someone who has dealt with his bullshit for this long?
I'm not sure what caliber of drumming Rob was delivering that night, but for a band who's early works consist of lyrics celebrating the imperfect members of society, it seems like a little bit more than an overreaction. Time and narcotics have changed you, Kris. You used to be someone I drew inspiration from, someone I looked up to and even someone I used to refer to as one of my heroes. I hope that fiasco inspires you to get the help you evidently need.
I'm not trying to turn this into a plug for my own band, but this song is just too perfect for the situation. Kris, here's A Song For Your Mixtape -
Rob showed up to Patent Pending rehearsal today. He has been failing miserably. We decided to throw things at him. It seems to have gotten the point of cross. Everyone go back to your days now.
