Uh how? In a previous article, they mentioned that he may have ran away due to being stressed. Architecture is a high stress field with an awful job market and a high suicide rate.

This is extremely sad. I actually saw Civil Twilight in concert last night in Raleigh, NC. They didn't address the situation, though. They just said their keyboardist couldn't be there, and he had more important things to attend to. It's such a shame that this had to happen.

Gods be with this guy's family. What is perhaps most terrifying about this is that as the body would remain under water, it would bloat and begin to float towards the surface. However, the weight of the cinderblock would keep it suspended underwater like a human naval mine. Jesus.
