Hmmm....I could be wrong, but back when I was still a fan of Whisper Wars, I read an AltPress article about the band working on their second album (mind you, this was probably still a few years before that second album would actually come out), but the whole article seemed to be about Alex talking about how he's bringing R&B vocals back to rock in a way that no other band is really doing. Yet when I watch videos of him performing live, he shows (in my opinion, as someone who listens to bands with good R&B/bluesy vocalists like Reign of Kindo, Backstreet Boys, dcTalk, Justin Nozuka), seemingly no true ability of writing any sort of impressive melodies. He might have some skill, but as a writer he's really no different than most emo-pop singers
