It's pretty much the difference between this being a Transformers ripoff and an actual good movie.

Dude missiles/ army/ Nukes vs. giant monsters has been done, and so has to a degree robots vs. monsters. I have faith though that Del Toro can incorporate some new elements into the mix. I'm sure there will be cool shit happening regardless.

I don't care what's been done, I want to see something done well. And Del Toro is pretty reliable, but two trailers in, this still looks like hot garbage.

It's not his typical role, but, based on the script, I thought he was a great fit. Some of the reports from the screening echoed that sentiment.

It's definitely a completely different role than anything he has done before. I'm guessing he is going to serve as most of the comedic relief throughout the movie.

Pretty much. He has some comedic lines, but it doesn't come off as wacky or forced. It's more of a humorous reaction to the what happens in certain scenes.
