Apparently, a man by the name of Herb Saunders found that by injecting a dead disease into the udder of a cow before giving birth, it's "first milk" will have antibodies in the colostrum that have healing properties. He found something highly effective against Arthritis, and it's even been found that injecting a dead Lyme disease spirochete resulted in a woman being cured within a few weeks of drinking the milk.

Anyways, the FDA and The Department for Agriculture squelched the idea, showed no interest in pursuing any additional research, and sued the man for practicing medicine without a medical license, in addition to seizing his property.

I really hate how drugs in this world are only approved based on what's the most profitable.

As someone who has had Chronic Lyme disease for years, I am royally pissed off. This is a way to create a drug that can be effective against Lou Gherig's, MS, etc., and it seems as though it will never see the light due to everybody being terrified of the FDA suing them. Thoughts?

I feel like I've heard that there actually are patented cancer cures or drugs out there that are like incredibly effective (like 80-90% effective I think) but will most likely never see the light of day because pharmaceutical companies can't make shit off of a patented drug. Sigh.

Haha believe me, as someone who has been sick for years, and who has a family friend who had cancer, I'm aware of all of this. It really is sickening. There are so many amazing possibilities out there |=\. Insurance companies also like to avoid paying for Lyme disease patients' antibiotics, too. Dunno why, but they prefer to wait until you're in a wheelchair or in a mental house from neurological decay because drugs are "too expensive". I was on IV antibiotic treatment for a bit and was getting noticeably better, but naw, Blue Cross Blue Shield says it wasn't necessary, so here I am two years later back at square one. Maybe I'll go buy a cow xD.

I get what you mean. There is a purpose to having an FDA and Department of Agriculture, and it probably is necessary in our country. We need some way to regulate medications and make sure everything is tested safely and properly, of course. The problem is corruption among these departments. A lot of big insurance companies tend to be linked to members of the CDC and medical agencies, showing that insurance companies also play a major influence on people. Insurance companies won't make as much money off of a one-time cancer pill as they would in months and years of chemo.

Random fun fact of Lyme disease: It is a larger epidemic than AIDs, Avian Flu, and West Nile combined, when judging by the CDC's estimates of total annual reported cases and unreported cases.

(I like people to be informed. Also explains why this issue gets me so angry. Even Mitt Romney is quoted telling Virginia voters that he would do everything he could to stop the "Lyme Disease Epidemic")

Maybe because they regulate our drugs and determine drug classes... they prevent humans from being poisoned and addicted haha it is highly necessary, ours is just corrupt. Without the FDA, any Joe Shmo can hand out tablets of cyanide and say it cures the common cold, no? Companies may not purposely poison their products, but they'd be able to push them out faster before proper testing. Recalls and lawsuits would happen all over.

In its current form, okay, I can agree with this for sure man. But it would need to be replaced with something. It can't just be abolished and have nothing else come into place. It'd be highly unsafe.
