For me personally it's Ramin Bahrani, Anderson probably a close second. (Yes I remember that list I posted before, but I completely forgot about Bahrani).

Also, one of the guys from AnCo was wearing a House shirt on Fallon this week.

Bahrani is good, but he needs to grow as a director for him to even crack my top five.

Since this is now the "good movies most people would probably never pay attention to" thread:

Probably going to see the U.S. premiere of Ali Mosaffa's The Last Step tonight. Not sure if any of you have heard of it/are interested, but I can report back.

Got Che yesterday and just finished watching both parts. Really enjoyed it, so thanks to who ever rec'd it in this thread. Really interested to go through some of the bonus features on, especially the one about the RED camera.

Finally watched The Son last night. I can't recall the last time a film floored me like that.

I don't know where exactly to post this, but here seems as good a place as any. Looks like Michael Fassbender is also in the untitled upcoming Terrence Malick film. I couldn't be more excited about this. http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplayli...drama-20121007

I've never watched a Chantal Akerman before now, but I'm so impressed with Je tu il elle.

I really enjoyed Terrence Davies' The Deep Blue Sea.

I'm planning on watching it these days. I've only seen Distant Voices from his ouvre and it was fantastic.

I've never watched a Chantal Ackerman before now, but I'm so impressed with Je tu il elle.

Jeanne Dielmann is a must.

Seconding Jeanne Dielman. I wish Almayer's Folly was coming to my area sometime soon.

That's next in line. I also have La Captive downloading. Really excited to get to both.

Definitely won't be seeing that until next year.

I wasn't that impressed with The Deep Blue Sea. I felt like I could've just watched a typical BBC period piece instead (which I love, by the way) and gotten the same effect.

Ironically my top recommendation for Akerman is Portrait d'une jeune fille de la fin des années 60 à Bruxelles, a made-for-TV movie.

Fear and Desire is really bad. Kubrick didn't want it released for a reason.

Of the two Kubricks I've yet to see, Barry Lyndon and Eyes Wide Shut, which should I watch first?
