It seems to be an unpopular opinion, but I love this band. Always have. Scenes From A Memory is one of my favorite albums of all time. Black Clouds was great (minus Portnoy's irritating backing vocals), and Dramatic Turn Of Events was even better (Mangini is a huge asset). I completely understand why people have trouble getting into them, though. Definitely not for everybody.
