Brian Fallon Talks Next Gaslight Album

Posted by - 12:06 PM on 12/17/12
Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem) tells Rolling Stone that "'might be the weird album coming up."
From the InterviewFallon is definitely okay with "weird" on this next record. "We're searching for something new to do with songwriting, rather than just piecing together verses and choruses in more of a traditional sense," he said. "We're looking for some other thing not some other genre, but something else. And it might not be the favorite of everyone, but [it] might be the 'weird' album coming up. I'm pretty sure it is." Then again, he isn't willing to call his shot just yet. "Every time I end up saying what I think it always ends up being different."

I'm perfectly okay with this. Handwritten pretty much perfected the "Gaslight" sound, so feel free to do a weird one.

See, I thought Handwritten was pretty safe so a little bit of experimentation would be excellent.

Yeah I'd be very down for them to switch things up; they're starting to get fairly monochromatic in my opinion. American Slang, despite its faults, was interesting in that they incorporated some new sounds and styles. I feel like we got none of that on Handwritten.

Can't wait for Fallon to flow over a Chief Keef-produced beat.

I could definitely get behind a little experimentation with TGA. I fully trust Brian and the guys.

These. I'm all for something new. "Handwritten" was merely okay, but proof that they need to explore new routes.
