I came to this site looking for new punk and post-hardcore, but since then, I definitely listen to a lot more indie rock w/ twinkling guitars and electronic music.

I stumbled across that Now, Now album on itunes by total accident. I liked it but I couldn't really commit to it.

I opened Grimes, Now, Now and Policia all at the same time and they sounded incredible together, you should try it. I like Policia's sound but I feel like the autotune detracts a lot from the lady's fine voice.

Definitely cross over the bandcamp stuff to the bandcamp thread as well, if you haven't already.

I get most of my new music from Sean because I'm too lazy and impatient to look for it myself.

I'm now going to randomly dump three bands here:

Ochre - ambient chiptune

Near the Parenthesis - ambient, electronica tinged post-rock. Like The American Dollar but without the climaxes.

Miroist - slightly mathy, proggy djent, aka the stuff Sean typically creams himself over

I'm actually really bored with djent lately, especially since the new Periphery album sucks and basically is a worse version of the first one. Not to mention it's all getting very similar very quickly, and not in a good way.

Except not really. As you know, I bore fairly easily, so homogeneity is never a good thing.

Since you said I forgot this (TA was posted above), I may as well redeem myself and share it with everyone:

Ambient post-hardcore metallic epicness. 6th favorite band of all time. Incredible songwriting, incredible musicianship, and most importantly, incredible atmosphere. Atmosphere is definitely the primary quality I look for in music.

I can totally see where you're coming from with Poliça. The vocalist has expressed that she wants her voice to be utilised as another instrument in the band rather than a focal point, so it makes sense she'd use so many effects on her singing. I just think of their music that way now.

As for the Bandcamp thread, I lurk there all the time. Lights & Motion is an absolute gem, and I'm glad they were shared there last week.

I guess I could see it that way, it's just that autotune has been so abused in recent years that it's really freaking hard to, haha. New vocal techniques are always cool to encounter, though.

for those interested in new music, this band used to be Oceana and their album is coming out tuesday. a few tracks are up for streaming here and, as someone who has already heard the album in full, you're going to want to take a listen when it's released.
