Based on this info I'm not very excited about this. Sigh... I'll just keep listening to Act's I and II.
You have to think about what stripped down means for TDH though. I'm pretty sure a normal band setup is stripped down for them with all the shit going on in the Acts.

Casey, Andy Hull, and Anthony Green should just hurry up and make a full album together.

That's true.. i'm just slowly losing interest in them all together. IMO, they've been steadily declining. And that's not to imply I don't like they're later stuff, I just think Acts I and II are FAR better.

I'd honestly be extremely okay with something in the vein of the Branches EP that was released to lifetime members but eventually leaked.

B. Linus is my jam.

Each record TDH has released has had it's own purpose. This time Casey felt like venting and being raw, and not having to explore his emotion/inspiration through the lens of the Acts characters, and that's okay. Being that this is the second non-Acts release, I'm pretty sure his next releases will go back to the good old sound that a lot of fans are complaining about missing lately.

It's going to be a softer sort of album. I've seen Casey do solo acoustic shows twice since he started recording and he's played about four of the new songs live between the two shows. He said it doesn't follow any sort of concept other than being deeply personal music that he wrote to vent; it doesn't relate to the Act records in any way and it's a lot more soft and stripped down feeling overall.
Yeah, very disappointing news. I like my Dear Hunter epic, with lots of instrumentation-like the Violet EP, which was incredible. Casey is a lyrical genius though, so I trust him.

I might say that "B. Linus" is my favorite Dear Hunter song.

B. Linus makes me lose the feeling of my face. That EP and the lifetime guestlist were worth the cost of the Lifetime Fanclub alone.
