Criticisms aside, I don't understand how Jonny Craig can still headline shows. He's a great vocal talent, but from what I've seen on Youtube his shows are not good.

While I wouldn't say these are offensively bad I 100% agree with your first point. Him in DGD was like something I never heard and the power he displays in that first Emarosa album still gives me chills. The problem with this R&B stuff is he doesn't hit those big throaty inspirational choruses like "Lemon Meringue Tie", "Heads or Tails Real or Not", etc.

Well that and there are a million decent R&B singers singing about bottles and models. He had a niche, a defining and interesting approach and he's blowing it by just becoming one of the crowd.

I've been wanting to catch a Kurt Travis set for a while now -- I think this is the first time he's done a solo show in my area. Just kinda bummed that it's at the South By So What festival.

Unlike a lot of people, I do like JC's solo stuff. It's just simple pop & R&B stuff, bad lyrics but otherwise solid. Will have to check out the covers later, but I did like the ones he did on YouTube a year or two ago.

first two DGD albums were proper. Emarosa's self titled was proper. ALLB LP wasn't great. I think Jonny should add Kurt to Emarosa and then see what happens(if emarosa would let jonny back in)
