Straight edgers here in SLC consistently ruin shows. I can't stand them.

I always bring up the interview I did with Sick of It All's lead vocalist, Lou:

Once in awhile I'll drink wine with dinner, but you could consider me straight edge because I think of it as the original Minor Threat lyrics, where moderation was their stance.

A lot of people don't even realize this.

I'm like the exact opposite of you haha, I identify myself as straight-edge and I don't know anyone else that does. My friends drink all of the time, it doesn't bother me at all. It's a completely personal thing one way or the other.

The militant straight edge portion I can relate to ala a good friend of mine. Guy was hardcore "the edge" for years.

As someone who is edge, I can appreciate this. The violent, militant ones give straight edge a band name. Live the life that's right for you.

Most edge kids I've met don't really give a fuck about people who drink. I'm starting to think that these militant edgers might be an urban legend? Or at least the extent of their prevalence.

I always laugh when I read his blogs because he is such a goof onstage but his blogs address serious issues.

Not an urban legend, but they were a lot more prevalent about 10 years ago, and evidently even bigger another 10 years before that. They've slowly faded away over the years as those guys break edge and/or stop going to shows. Certainly minimal these days, although it's not unheard of in the Boston scene.

Heard a story recently about a group of straight edge guys in cleveland who held a guy down and cut his "edge" tattoos of for breaking edge. I know these people are few and far between and they certainly don't represent the norm, but god damn that is fucked up.
