There seems to be two edge scenes in RVA: one full of nice normal people who chose not to drink/smoke/etc and one full of sexist, misogynistic and awful hate mongerers who are only edge so they have some sort of excuse to beat other people up.
I don't care if anyone is straight edge and I almost respect it since I can relate to constant criticisms being a vegan. However, I think everyone needs to find what works for them and not feel forced into following the tenets of a certain group just because it's popular. I mean, how many straight edge people would have chosen abstinence if it wasn't part of being "edge". It's fine to be proud of it, as long as you're not being offensive to others. Like I don't give a shit that lots of vegans don't eat honey, I find nothing wrong with it so I continue to have it.
All my friends drink and/or smoke, and a lot of them do drugs. That doesn't effect me and it doesn't bother me one bit. I don't do these things and that doesn't effect or bother them either. I have friends who were edge and broke, and I have a friend who has an edge tattoo and broke. I didn't shun them, I didn't cut their tattoos off, I didn't care. What they do is up to them.
I'm like the exact opposite of you haha, I identify myself as straight-edge and I don't know anyone else that does. My friends drink all of the time, it doesn't bother me at all. It's a completely personal thing one way or the other.
Yep. If anyone makes a big deal out of it, it's always the drinkers in my past experiences.

This seems to be generally true as well. I've been to plenty of parties where I get hassled about not drinking when all I'm doing is hanging out with my drunk friends and having a good time.
