I would quibble with the genres you listed in the title, but it's whatever.

I'm a big fan of TbT, Tallest Man and JTE so I'll check out those other two recs.

Give the fine fellow in my avatar a whirl:

And I'm assuming you're well aware of Mr. Ryan Adams, but just in case you aren't:

Isbell, Adams and Earle are actually all good friends too. Isbell and Adams toured together extensively last year, and Isbell regularly sits in with JTE live. Here's a couple of videos of them together:

And finally, you should definitely check out Night Beds. Debut album came out Tuesday, and they're on Fallon tonight:

Hahaha I always thought that was Michael Madsen

Hahaha no, I do see the resemblance though. He also looks a lot like Matt Stafford, the Lions' QB:

i'm super into everything you posted. thanks!

have you heard of JD McPherson?

No problem, always glad to spread the alt-country love! Also good news is Isbell has a new album coming out this year most likely, and Adams might and JTE probably will.

No I have not, song sounds cool, I'll check him out!

This thread is really amusing and coincidental now given that I was literally just hired by the site today partially to cover alt-country

Oh God yes. One of my favorite albums lately.
Haha I think me and you are the only people on this site who are ga-ga over that record man. It's seriously so good though

Changed the thread title to more accurately reflect the music that's been posted in here so far. Hope you don't mind OP. Let's make this thread a thing guys, I'm on a mission to expose more people on this site to this style of music haha.

Sorry for double post and this might sound kinda stupid but is this genre similar to like Mumford and Sons? That's kinda what I'm looking for. I do love folk though

Kinda sorta. They really write U2 lite pop tunes though, just with more "folk" instrumentation. If you want music similar to Mumford, Avett, Lumineers, etc. but much much better I'd try Trampled by Turtles or Old Crow Medicine Show.

As much as I love music, I'm kinda dumb when it comes to genres. There's just so many.

But thank you for those!

It's all good; personally I hate trying to squeeze things into certain genres/microgenres so I completely understand.

for you tallest man on earth fans, this is my favorite thing in the world:

This kind of music always makes me want to get outside and hike. I made a couple playlists last summer for this very reason:

http://8tracks.com/neocassady/the-mountains-are-calling

http://8tracks.com/neocassady/and-i-must-go

These have some great stuff on them and everyone should listen.

Since we're talking about alt-country... If you haven't listened to Cary Hudson/Blue Mountain, you're missing out.

Holy shit, here's something I never thought I'd see on this site! Blue Mountain are great. I used to live ~15 min from the town they're named after up in northern MS haha

I happened upon them playing at Southern Miss before a football game and was stoked out of my mind. They're a state treasure.

For sure. Saw them at Doubledecker Fest up in Oxford ages ago. I adore this song:

What was it before? It's still super broad.
Honestly I don't recall. I mean yeah all three of the genres in the title definitely should have their own thread but I'm not sure it's justified on this site I'm afraid. Not enough interest, particularly in the music forum.
