I think the one thing that the FX remake of Bron / Broen and The Tunnel are going to miss is the mutual intelligibility of the language. It just gives the show an added element when you have the characters speaking their native languages.
Has anyone seen NŠturvaktin (The Night Shift)? It's an Icelandic sit-com set in a petrol station and it's absolutely hilarious. They did three seasons, Dagvaktin, set in a hotel and Fangavaktin, set in a prison.
They also did a film, Bjarnfrearson.
It's really, really funny, but there's a lot of heart and poignant moments as well.
For anybody in the mood for an incredibly mean, dark and demented comedy, I can't recommend Nighty Night enough. It's the brainchild of Julia Davis, one of my (and probably everyone else's) three favorite UK female comics. The plot is so twisted, but it stays incredibly hilarious and well-written throughout.

Nighty Night is good stuff. Pulling is great as well.
